"Guang Lian Theatrer" was established in 2022.
"Guang" represents "Spiritual light," and "Lian" signifies continuous "Refinement."
It is not only an innovative form of experimental art but also a bridge across disciplines and eras, collectively exploring the spirit and vocabulary of the new age.
Led by interdisciplinary artist Zhang Shuo-ting, the theater brings together elites from various fields such as traditional opera, music, fine arts, dance, and more. Its mission is to explore the spirit and vocabulary of the "Era of Spiritual Light" and create and experiment with multidimensional forms of artistic expression.
Sui Bian serves as the artistic director.
Since 2013, Sui Bian has gained experience in environmental theater and street performances, advocating for art to immerse itself in the crowd. In the age of technology, he believes in using actual interaction and sensory experiences to heal oneself, allowing the energy of the live performance to resonate within the hearts and minds of the audience.
Both the troupe leader and artistic director have been studying traditional Chinese aesthetics and culture since childhood, including opera performances, traditional martial arts, calligraphy and ink painting, and meditation practices. They draw inspiration from the ancient Eastern heritage, creating various mythical creatures and fantastical beasts hidden throughout Taiwan. Through the "Art Walk Interactive Art Exhibition," they aim to bring art closer to people's lives, shaping a new artistic expression and landscape for Taiwan's cities, historical sites, streets, and natural scenery.
